Shocking Interview with an Adwords Employee

We have changed the name of the Adwords Employee to make sure he does not lose his job or gets into trouble.

Rick started to work for Google 5 years ago. First he was replying emails from Adwords customers. He moved quickly to Adwords department dealing with suspended Adwords users.
We met Ricky in a local Starbucks next to Google HQ in Pear Avenue:
AB:
Great to finally meet you. How are you?
Ricky:
I am good.
AB:
Let’s get started. How does it feel to work for the largest and most important internet company in the world?
Ricky:
People always say Google is the best place to work. That might be true for those coders, engineers and designers, but not in my department. We work 40-50 hours a week, the pressure and workload is immense.
We also get so many nasty emails from people who were banned from advertising with us. It can be really difficult to deal with all the negativity we are facing on a daily bases.

Did AdWords ban your account?
AdWords insider reveals a little-known technique on how to get your banned account back online - and how you can easily and safely open a new AdWords account.

AB:
How many people did you personally ban from advertising with Adwords?
Ricky:
(Ricky smiles) You think we at Adwords are those evil bustards who randomly pick Adwords advertisers and suspend their accounts? It does not really work like that. In reality we actually don’t even decide which accounts get disabled. Google is using a very secret algorithm to decide automatically which accounts don’t meet the T&C’s. In very rare cases humans are involved with the suspension. Only banned accounts where we have been contacted by the users are reviewed. We have very clear rules to follow when we do those reviews. In most cases we have no other option than to decline.
AB:
How many accounts did you restore in all the years you were working for Adwords?
Ricky:
Around 70-80 had been restored by myself.
AB:
What are the chances of getting your old account back, after somebody appeals?
Ricky:
I am sorry to tell you that, but it’s pretty low. I would say the chance is 1 out 1000 you get back on Adwords.
AB:
Wow, that’s really low. Did you ever think what it means for all those advertisers having their account suspended, and their business destroyed?
Ricky:
I know a lot of people suffer because of our decision. But at the end we have certain rules to follow, we just cannot restore an account because we feel sorry for this guy. Everything we do in the office is monitored by the management. We always have to be prepared to explain and justify why we restored a certain Adwords accounts.
AB:
Did you ever sell or advertise online by yourself?
Ricky:
According to our contract we are not allowed to publish ads with Adwords, I never sold online, but I would love to start.
AB:
How can we avoid getting banned from Adwords?
Ricky:
Read the T&S’s would be a good start. That’s the most extensive and detailed information available on how you can make sure you never get suspended.
AB:
Nice to meet you Ricky. Thank you for the interview.
Ricky:
It was my pleasure.
